This is also an opportunity to share our language with our audience in both radio and television.

 About Us

Yasasi Gunarathne 

Yasasi Gunarathne has made Wairarapa her home since 2022. By day, she excels in her full-time role at a reputable company, and by night, she pursues her dream career as a full-time student. However, her true passion lies in giving back to the community. As an active volunteer in Wairarapa, Yasasi serves as an Area Councillor for the Red Cross and supports refugee settlement programs. Her commitment to community empowerment and multi-culturalism is evident in her roles as a Founding Member of the Multi-Cultural Council in Masterton and Board Member at the Women's Shelter. Additionally, she shares her insightful perspectives on international and political news as a columnist for a local newspaper. Through her tireless work and volunteer efforts, Yasasi strives to make a positive impact in her community and foster a more inclusive and compassionate society.

Sameena Dadamiya 

Samee moved to Wairarapa in 2018, with her husband Jiffry and their son Hamdan. Currently, she works as a phlebotomist at Awanui Laboratory while also co-managing The Olive Branch in Carterton alongside Jiffry. Samee is an active member of both the Wairarapa Sri Lankan community and the Muslim Ladies of Wairarapa group. An avid explorer and lifelong learner, she loves to paint, bake, read, and garden in her spare time. As a family, they delight in traveling and discovering new foods and cultures together.

Jiffry Mohamed

Jiffry, the passionate owner of The Olive Branch, is a dynamic force in the Wairarapa community. As an active member of the Wairarapa Sri Lankan community and the secretary of the local Muslim community, he plays a pivotal role in fostering unity and support. His love for cooking shines through in everything he does, bringing people together through delicious meals. A true sports enthusiast, Jiffry enjoys cricket and rugby. Known for his willingness to take risks and his golden helping hand, he is a cherished asset to the community, always ready to lend his support and make a difference.
