Programme Information
In this programme, we explore the wonders of our magnificent night sky – stars, planets, nebulae and galaxies. We discuss the latest news and discoveries from space and, we also tell stories from antiquity - the myths and legends of the night sky that formed a cornerstone to the rise of civilization.
About Me
Richard has been involved in astronomy and adult education for more than 30 years. He was Senior Public Programmes Officer at the Carter Observatory, the National Observatory in Wellington, for many years. He is president of the Phoenix Astronomical Society and was leader of a team of enthusiasts that designed and built Stonehenge Aotearoa, which he now manages. Richard is author of the best seller How to Gaze at the Southern Stars, The Zodiac – Myths and Legends of the Night Sky, and co-author (with Kay Leather) of a book on Maori astronomy, Work of the Gods. An inspirational public speaker, Richard lectures on a wide range of astronomical subjects.
