Number #1 in the series has already
hit the news-stands, and features Arrow broadcaster and shoot-from-the-lip
social commentator/crackpot, Richard Clark (perpetrator of
Kiwi Café On Air).
Speaking of Richard (and that's how he likes it) we were able
to utilise his skills as a cinematographer to record an instructional
DVD about our remote broadcasting apparatus, The Lynchbox.
This is the nifty gizmo that allows us to transmit from remote
locations - specifically The Featherston Community Centre
and Bambino Café in Carterton. Well, at least two other
Access stations have expressed interest in having a Lynchbox
of their own, so we have shot a 'How To' vid for their edification.
Thanks, Richard, for donating your time and talent to ensuring
this was of the highest quality.
As news of our fabbo remote service
spreads throughout the valley like a gentle mist, eager community
groups rush to become part of the Arrow whanau. We welcome
these tender newbies and hope that we will enjoy their company
and programmes for years to come.
Equally important are the partnerships
we enjoy with our programme sponsors and funding bodies. We
have recently received financial assistance from Masterton
Trust House, fqu and eir, and NZ On Air continues to be our
major funder. Thanks to you all for your support and endorsement
of the important service that this station provides for the
diverse cultures of our region. Thanks also to Bambino Café
and The Featherston Community Centre for providing such lively
venues for our mobile transmissions.
Arrow FM has recently lost a
good friend and staunch advocate with the passing of Board
member Julie Hallam. Julie waged a brave fight against her
illness and whenever we met during her period of therapy,
she expressed a positive determination that was typical of
her affirmative attitude. The staff, board and broadcasters
of Arrow FM extend their deepest sympathies to Julie's family,
friends and colleagues, and lament her untimely loss. Thanks,
Julie, for all you've done for us.
