Eudaimonia

Presented by Dr Ruben Escriva
The art and science of living well.
EudaimoniaProgramme Information

Eudaimonia is a weekly radio program dedicated to exploring the art and science of living well. Each episode blends modern lifestyle medicine with timeless wisdom to help listeners cultivate physical health, emotional balance, and a sense of purpose. Through practical conversations on nutrition, movement, mindset, and human connection, Eudaimonia invites you to discover what it truly means to thrive — not just survive.

The word Eudaimonia, rooted in ancient Greek philosophy, means “a life well lived” — a state of flourishing that arises when our actions align with our deepest values. The program invites listeners to slow down and reflect on what truly matters, offering practical insights, inspiring interviews, and simple strategies to improve health, energy, and happiness.

About Me

I’m Dr Ruben Escriva, a medical doctor with a strong passion for lifestyle medicine, holistic health, and human wellbeing. My work focuses on helping people prevent and reverse chronic disease through nutrition, movement, rest, emotional awareness, and purpose-driven living.

Originally trained in conventional medicine, my journey has led me to integrate scientific evidence with a more humanistic and mindful view of health — one that recognises the deep connection between body, mind, and environment.

Through Eudaimonia, I hope to share this integrative perspective in a simple and engaging way, combining medical knowledge with personal reflection and stories that inspire positive change.

Friday Night Blues

Presented by Dave Sinton
Discover the only local show dedicated to the wonderful world of blues; from old to new, slow to fast.
Friday Night BluesProgramme Information

The Friday Night Blues Show is a trip through the wonderful world of the blues. Blues music comes in many styles and can be happy or sad, slow or fast, loud or soft.  I cover all these on each programme through a wide range of artists, so you can't guess what's coming up - often I don't know as well!

My aim is to get listeners interested in the blues or allow aficionados access to music that is not really broadcast through commercial radio. The real buzz I get out of this show is that I can let others enjoy my music, stir their interest in the songs and the stories behind them… and get hooked on the blues!

About Me

Hello, I'm Dave Sinton. I have been presenting the Friday Night Blues Show since 2000 and still really enjoy it. Originally from Auckland, I moved around a fair bit with my previous job but my wife Elaine and I have been living in the Wairarapa since 1994. We have a lifestyle block just out of town and thoroughly enjoy this magic part of NZ. My interest in the blues stems from growing up in the 60's and being curious about what inspired the Rhythm and Blues groups of the time. This has become a passion, and I've spent decades building up my knowledge and collection.

New show available Fridays 7.00 - 8.00pm

Samoan Community Radio

Presented by Oka Lagolago
News, music and topical discussion from the Samoan community.
Samoan Community RadioProgramme Information

Smooth sounds of Samoa, local guests, news and information. A mix of music, community news, singing and talking, with topics focussed on the local and wider Samoan community. This is also an opportunity to share our language with listeners (and viewers on Wairarapa Television). When hosting the evening it’s like sitting around in the Meeting House (Falefono) chatting about what’s happening in the community and globally, and also playing some sweet sounds of Samoa, which brings our people to reminisce about their homeland…..

About Us

Samoan Community Radio continues the legacy of Tuifao Lologa, who presented Pasefika for many years on Arrow FM. The Pasefika radio programme came from an idea at JNL, where many of our people worked, and became a great opportunity for giving back to the island community. JNL continues this sponsorship for Samoan Community Radio  which is now presented by me, Oka Lagolago, representing the Samoan communities of the Wairarapa.

ReCooper8 is a broad-based arts programme, aiming to bring listeners news and views on what’s happening in the arts in the South Wairarapa, along with some great music and in-depth profiles and interviews with artists and creatives working not just in our region, but nationally and internationally. 60s Nostalgia

Presented by Dave Sinton
Travel back to the greatest decade of music ever. Songs you haven't heard for a while or maybe never before. Tune in and be surprised.
60s NostalgiaProgramme Information

60s Nostalgia is a trip down memory lane, as we take you through the music of the "Greatest Decade of Music". Over the years I've built up a large collection of music that you will enjoy. Normally you won't know what is coming up next (because I often don’t!) but this gives you a chance to request a favourite. Some weeks we have special themes. But every week we have great sixties music, so listen on in.

About Me

Hello, I'm Dave Sinton.  I have been presenting 60s Nostalgia since 2000 and still really enjoy it. Originally from Auckland I moved around a fair bit with my previous job but my wife Elaine and I have been living in the Wairarapa since 1994. We have a lifestyle block just out of town and thoroughly enjoy this magic part of NZ.

I have always loved music from the 60s. It helped that I was a teenager then and, living in Auckland, had opportunities to watch the popular bands and singers.  I also was able to experience the radio revolution when Radio Hauraki was founded and went to sea.

Since then I've been stuck in a time warp music-wise, and I love it! The variety of the music (and the talent of the musicians) still grabs me ,and it’s a pleasure being able to pass this on. I have a big collection of music, so (in the words of He Ain’t Heavy, He's My Brother) "why not share?"

New show available Fridays from 8:00 to 9:00 pm

About Us

We are primary school students, helped by our teachers and Arrow FM to create regular programmes about school life and the many things we are interested in. At the moment, five schools are involved, and so we get to go live on air once every five weeks. We are gaining presentation and production skills, and showcasing talents we already have. We also look for stories and achievements from other students at the school, acting as their on-air representatives.

 About me

Suni Brown – RangitÄne, NgÄti Kahungunu, NgÄti Wai, NgÄti Manuhiri:

Suni Brown was born and raised in Wairarapa – the domain of the RangitÄne people who have lived in the surrounding Wairarapa areas for 800 years. In this time, there have come many a great story of this area’s formidable ancestors, including the great ancestor Kahungunu (NgÄti Kahungunu) for which much history is known. The NgÄti Kahungunu and RangitÄne lineages are important and Suni hopes to be able to share some of the histories and stories that have been transferred to him by his prominent tÄ«puna or ancestors, on KahuRangi. He sees this as a platform for inviting guests along for in-depth interviews, and knowledge-sharing opportunities, providing all listeners; near or far; MÄori or non-MÄori, local or otherwise, a thorough insight into the rich history of Wairarapa’s mana whenua and hau kÄinga (home people).

Waireka Collings – NgÄpuhi, NgÄti Hine, Ngaiterangi, NgÄti Pukenga, NgÄti Ranginui:

Born and raised in Masterton, Waireka, is a ‘whÄngai’ of the Wairarapa through her birth in this region, where she also received her Reo MÄori. Her mother, Paremo Matthews has been part of many Wairarapa kaupapa to revitalise the language all her life, and when Waireka was only 3 months old, and the first KÅhanga Reo opened, Mum Paremo was one of only a handful of people who had native Reo MÄori.

Waireka is the founder of the PuÄwai PÅ«rau STEM Academy who connect young people to mentors who will empower and support them to succeed in their academic pursuits. Her passions are to see educational transformation for tamariki MÄori in the community, to update the narrative to reflect thriving taiohi MÄori of Wairarapa who know who they are, and to see young ones inspired by what they see MÄori can achieve.

Catch her on KahuRangi where she will talk all things education!

Te Ataahia (Taahia) Hurihanganui RangitÄne, NgÄti Kahungunu-ki-Wairarapa, NgÄti Ira, NgÄti Porou, NgÄti Tahu-NgÄti WhÄoa, TÅ«hourangi-NgÄti WÄhiao, NgÄti Whakaue-NgÄti Te Roro-o-te-Rangi:

Te Ataahia, also known by her nickname, Taahia is a proud mother raising her children back in her hometown of Whakaoriori (Masterton) Wairarapa after many years living away – both in other tÅ«rangawaewae (ancestral homes) like Takapau in the Hawkes Bay, and Pito-Åne and Tapu-te-Ranga in Te Whanganui-a-Tara/Wellington as well as abroad in Rome and Sicily, Italy, where her husband hails from. She is deeply passionate about her indigenous culture, language, heritage, and traditions, and hopes to celebrate and share this through her KahuRangi sessions which will delve into the indigenous MÄori time-system and environmental calendar ‘te Maramataka’, traditional MÄori parenting practices, and other aspects of interest related to MÄori language and culture. Testing, testing, 1-2-3

Presented by Arrow Fm Team
Nothing to see here. Really.
Testing, testing, 1-2-3Programme Info

This groundbreaking new format examines the increasingly flexible boundary separating technological experimentation and inadvertant brainfade. In other words, this is the page we send stuff to when we're just testing the gear. Sometimes we need to check if a reported fault is indeed a fault or just because someone forgot to press the right button. Sometimes it's because there's a mysterious buzz we need to identify, and exhaustive tests will be conducted before discovering that someone left their phone on vibrate. And sometimes we really are trialling an exciting piece of new technology and we want to give it a go without incinerating a programme maker. So, feel free to ignore this page. In fact, we really want you to. Ideally, nobody will read what I'm writing, which is a little bit freaky.

Whats Going On

Presented by Michael Wilson
What to do and where to go, Wairarapa wide.
Whats Going OnProgramme Information

Mostly this is about making sure that you are well-informed about everything that’s going on in our Wairarapa over the next 7 days. But there may be a guest or a featured event that will take up a large chunk of the programme and your host will have to talk really quickly to fit everything in. And because the host’s brain is an increasingly mysterious organ, we may occasionally hurtle in the wrong direction up a one-way street or struggle to remember what day it is (it’ll be Friday, mostly).

About Us

Failing memory has clouded the details of your host’s upbringing, but a remote hillside in Whakatane and a hospitable family of possums waver at the edges of his consciousness.

New show available Fridays at 9am

We Are One

Presented by Mustenser Qamar and Tashriq Hanif
A peaceful society for all.
We Are OneProgramme Information

'We Are One' - a powerful statement popularised after the horrific Christchurch Mosque attacks in 2019 - is a message which we need to be reminded of, due to the increasing diversity in our society.

Join us as we explore a range of different topics  from the journey of former refugees, to faith and how we can truly ensure a peaceful society despite differences in race, colour, religion and politics.

About Us

We belong to the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, a persecuted revival movement within Islam. As Muslims who believe in the Promised Messiah of the latter days, we’re firmly of the belief that true Islam is a religion of peace. For many years we’ve been spearheading campaigns of understanding and friendship like our nationwide ‘Meet a Muslim’ campaign. We strive to live by our motto of ‘Love for All, Hatred for None’.

With Masterton being designated a new settlement location for former refugees, we’re fortunate that members of our community are able to call Wairarapa their new home.

Mustenser Qamar (@MustenserAQamar), an Imam of the community, will be joined by his co-host, Tashriq Hanif, as well as others from the community on this live weekly programme.

Turn The Page

Presented by Mark Pacey
Stories from our past.
Turn The PageProgramme Information

As we turn the pages of our history, we can always go back to an earlier chapter to see where we have come from.

Join me each Monday as we tell some of these stories. They will make us laugh and they will make us cry, and what we learn from them will enrich our lives.

Heroes and villains, rogues and rascals, soldiers and civilians, every one of them deserves to have their tales told.

In each episode we will tell two stories, play two pieces of appropriate music and of course, like Wreck and Roll, regale you at the end of each show with a puntastically brilliant piece of humour.

Like sand through the hourglass, these are the stories of our lives

I have a special interest in talking to people who have stories to tell and knowledge to share - everyday people from across the motu.

About Me

A proud Masterton skateboarder girl from the ‘80s. I did spend quite a number of years away from the Wairarapa  but I’m back! I’m embracing turning 50 and living with my partner Scott, who is cricket obsessed. I’m a mother of 3 adult sons, two dogs and two cats, I like cooking and baking and am a bit of a kitchen whizz. I’ve spent the last 10 years on a journey of self discovery and recovery, overcoming addiction and learning to live with ADHD. I am community minded, especially around helping others in addiction.

My interest in broadcasting goes back many years. I used to present a show on Arrow FM quite a number of years ago, and went on to study at the NZ Radio Training School at the Whitirea campus. I have a passion for interviewing people and helping bring their stories to life.

About Me

As a husband, father & grand father I’ve spent 60 years of my working life being active in and around life’s necessary commitments. Now at 78 years of age I find myself looking ahead 10 years and wondering what goals need to be set to get me to 88 in good shape and enjoying life.

I hold a Diploma in Recreation and Sport and am a 7th Dan Kyokushin Karate Instructor, still active and teaching classes in Carterton. Now that my 9 to 5 commitments are over there is still much I feel I can contribute and this show is part of this so tune in on Tuesdays at 11am and maybe pick up some ideas on how to energise yourself.
